This is the view from the kitchen door. I like to walk round the garden in the morning when I first get up, it seems a good start to the day.
We've had little rain but plenty of cold winds over the last few weeks, so growth is slow and I've been loathe to do much work in the garden in these conditions.
The pond is in a bit of a mess.
But in spite of poor weather ferns are unfolding, flowers opening and the borders bushing out.
Ground elder grows well whatever the weather!
The tulips are almost over
and the barricades up in the veg garden.
Just waiting for some sunshine!

ReplyDeleteHow lovely to walk through your garden each morning...I'd be out there all the time. It's so pretty. I love your veggie garden set up. I'm going to be making a scarecrow myself for the pumpkin patch. The grackles were already eyeing my carrot and radish patch! I have to think of netting for those too! We haven't had sun in what seems like ages...just more snow for tonight sigh...warm weather is on its way, fingers crossed!! Thanks for sharing the wonderful photos!
I'm hoping for warm weather for both you and me, Rain. Old dvd discs hang from the fingers (old gardening gloves) of my scarecrow and twist in the wind sending flashes of light over the seed patch. I like to think they are doing some good and keeping the birds and cats from scratching about. Seems to be working so far!
DeleteOh does it ever look wonderful in spite of the weather. It isn't fun to garden when it's cold and wet. Did you make that scarecrow after someone I know?
ReplyDeleteAh ha, if he's someone you know then he's not wearing well! He's made up of an old shirt of Himself's, worn out gardening gloves and a Kangol hat of mine that's over half a century old. Himself used to bung it on his head when painting ceilings in the house and it's still going strong. No complaints about the quality of Kangol products!
DeleteI used to use white and old formal dresses. The birds would sit on them.

ReplyDeleteI pinched the scarecrow idea from the hotel up the road who put a large t-shirt on sticks. Don't know to what extent they work, but they make me smile!
DeleteVery pretty garden. I love walking around my garden too but we've had a lot of rainy weather, cold too. But you are way ahead of us here in Maine.
